Hello everyone!

Peter wrote in 1 Peter 1:15, “Just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do”

When Jake was a little fella he used to always mimic me. He wanted to dress like I did; he wanted to do all the things I did. There was no where that I went that he did not want to go with me. He played like he was daddy and so that has shaped a lot of things about who he is today, and it will shape a lot of things about who he will be as a man in the future.

I was thinking about that as I read this passage of Scripture this morning, and something CS Lewis wrote in his book Mere Christianity came to mind. Lewis said, “As one pretends to be something he is not, what he is not starts to become what he is until one cannot be distinguished from the other.” Now that is a mind full, but what the idea is, is that you and I are not Christ, but Christ himself says we should be like Him. How do we do that? And where do we start? Well every long journey starts with the first step.

Pretending to already be holy is the first step to being holy. Taking those steps that will look like Christ, even though you know that is not who you are, are the very steps that will carry you into being that person. So today, this week, this month, as we go forward, lets all play “dress up”.

When I was a little boy I used to play dress up in my dad’s clothes. His shoes were too big, his pants to big and his shirts to big, but I used to do it anyhow because I wanted to be like him. At one point in my life we got to where we could wear each others clothes! See what I am saying? Pretend to be Jesus, play dress up like Jesus, and before you know it you will look more and more like Jesus.

I love you guys have a great week.
