Good
morning everybody. . . “Let
us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. . . “ Hebrews
12:2 On
the piano middle C is always middle C. There is C sharp, and C flat, but
they, are not middle C. And when tuning a piano we always have to have
middle C in perfect tune to a tuning fork and that is where we start from.
No man ever thought of middle C, nor can we change middle C, it just
simply is. And if someone wants their piano to be tuned they must tune it
to the sound that makes middle C what it is. To start anywhere else will
produce a piano that is out of tune. Our
lives are much like the piano in that Jesus is our middle C. All things in
our lives must be tuned to Him. Oh we can start in other places, but we
will be out of tune. No man can create Jesus, nor can we change Jesus, He
just “is” and therefore we must tune our lives to Him. Look at a few
things with me. . . 1.
Being
out of tune makes for frustrated listeners. When an instrument is out of
tine the people who are trying to listen will become frustrated because
the sounds will not be correct coming from the instrument. They will seem
a little off and therefore hard to list to. And when our lives are not in
tune to Jesus, other people around us can recognize it. We are not as
pleasant to be around, we get irrigable and worrisome, and we are anxious
about life. 2.
Being
out of tune makes one not want to play at all. My grandmother has an old
piano, as a matter of fact it is the very piano I learned to play on. And
every time I go to her house she wants me to play it for her, but I
don’t want to because it is so awfully out of tune that it hurts my
ears! When our lives get out of tune with Jesus, we stop wanting to play
at all. Worship is not what it used to be, we don’t feel like praying
and we don’t feel like reading the Bible, and then comes the next thing.
. . 3.
Being
out of tune prevents us from playing with others. When playing in a band
with other instruments it is imperative that all of the instruments are in
tune. If they are not the whole band will be off. Or if in an orchestra
one instrument is out of tune the whole symphony will be off. So it goes
if we are not in tune with Jesus! We stop wanting to go to church or
hanging out with our Christian friends, we want to avoid other Christian
no matter what the cost because when we are around them we see just how
bad out of tune we really are. So
how do we “tune” to Jesus? We live out Hebrews 12:2 and we fix our
eyes on Him! We don’t look to a preacher, author, book or any other
person; those things simply assist us in fixing our eyes on Jesus. When
you feel your life getting out of tune, bring it back to the true Middle
C, the Author, and Perfecter of our Faith! I
love you all!
