Good
Monday Mornin!
You have been set free from sin, and have become slaves to righteousness.
Romans 6:18
My dog Lati has to stay in a kennel when we are gone from home. She
doesn't
mind it really, when we get ready to leave you just open the door and call
her name and she runs right in there and lies down. I think she kind of
likes it. But what is funny, is when you let her out. When we get home
from
wherever we have been and we let her out, she comes out of there like
greased lighting! Barking and running, it is a funny site because we have
all hardwood floors and she can't get any traction and just slides all
over
the place.
I came home this morning from taking the kids to school and as I always do
went in there to let her out, and she came out of there like always,
sliding
and barking, and then she ran outside and was running and playing with the
other dogs, and then it hit me like a ton of bricks, that is the freedom
that we are to feel when we have been set free by Jesus.
Paul says again in Romans 7:23 that we are prisoners to our sin. Therefore
you and I have been "locked down" by our sin. And the sad part
about it is
there are so many of us who are contented to live in that sin. We, like
Lati
in her kennel, walk into our sin, lay down in it and find a kind of false
peace being in our sin. But I think, as Paul did evidenced by the whole
chapter seven of Romans, that we all know that is not where we belong, we
belong out of that captivity.
Then along comes Jesus. His life, death and resurrection have opened that
door of sin and death and leaves us the ability to get free. See He comes
along and opens the door that keeps us in our sin, and gives us access to
be
free from that sin, and this is where the decision comes in.
You and I, just as Lati, get to choose if we will remain in that cage of
sin, or if we will come running out. And it amazes me how many of us still
live in that place of isolation and do not come running out. Because the
fact of the matter is, those whom Christ has set free, they do not need to
live in that bondage any longer.
And those who come out running, oh what a joyous feeling it is to be loose
from the bonds of sin, to run into the freedom of life without feeling the
pressure and guilt that sin brings with it. God has created you and I to
be
free, He has created you and I to have a life that is full of joy and
peace
and love. Are you living in it?
I love you guys, have a great week.

But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those
who
believe and are saved.
